Timber Lanes Three Man League League Rules 2007-2008 1. The Timber Lanes Three Man League consists of teams of three people who bowl 5 games, 5 boxes at a time using a 36 week schedule. Bowlers in this league must be at least 17 years old as of the first day of bowling. The league will bowl each Wednesday beginning promptly at 7:30 pm. 2. The cost of bowling is $26.00 weekly. $14.00 is for bowling fees and $12.00 is for the league's prize pool. Each bowler must pay the full amount regardless of attendance. Each bowler shares in some portion of the prize pool depending on their individual and team standings. Any bowler who must stop bowling in the league, for any reason, forfeits all rights to any prize money. Cuffing, the practice of bowling without paying (or making only a partial payment) without prior arrangements with Phil, will be surcharged $3.00 for each occurence. Those in this league who frequently bowl without paying the full amount may be denied bowling without notification. Those who do not pay without making prior arrangements should not be surprised if they are not allowed to bowl without prior notification. A bowler announcing that he can not pay when he arrives on Wednesday night is not "making prior arrangements". 3. The 36 week schedule shall be bowled in quarter sessions, each 9 weeks in length, with the last night in each session being a position round. At the end of each session the team in first place shall be the quarter champions. At the end of the second quarter the winning teams of the first and second quarters shall rolloff to determine the first half champions. At the end of the fourth quarter the winning teams of the third and fourth quarters shall roll off to determine the second half champions. The first and second half champions shall roll off. The winner of this roll off shall be the league champions. All of these roll offs shall be a five game match, including handicaps. Winners are determined by total pinfall. 4. Each team shall win a portion of the league's prize pool based on their standings at the end of each quarter. 5. The league shall keep bowlers listed in classes. At the end of the season each bowler shall be paid a portion of the prize pool based on their performance at the end of each quarter. Money awards shall be paid for 1st & 2nd high average, 1st & 2nd high five and 1st & 2nd high single. No bowler shall be eligible for any individual prize money if they did not bowl at least 135 full games during the season (which is 75% of the season). Each eligible bowler shall receive only one individual prize per quarter, which will always be the award of the higher cash value. In the event of any ties in individual standings the money shall be combined (if applicable) and/or split between the bowlers. There shall be no roll offs to break ties in individual standings. 6. No one is a member of this league until they have actually bowled. A vacancy in a team shall have an average of 100. 7. The league shall use a 100% handicap system. 8. Teams compete nightly using a 12 point system, 2 for each game and 2 for total pinfall. Teams will each receive 1 point if a game is a tie. Two points will be awarded for total pinfall, including handicap. Should two teams tie total pinfall, each will be awarded 1 point. 9. Bowlers arriving late shall be allowed to bowl in a game in progress providing the opposing team has not started the 6th box. If a bowler arrives after this point their full average shall be used, and they may bowl in any remaining games, if any. 10. If a bowler is absent for a match, their full average shall be used. No pins shall be deducted for an absent bowler. 11. Any incident not covered by these rules will be referred to the I.C.B.A. Candlepin Rule Book. Any incident not covered by these rules or the rule book shall be decided by the owner (Phil) after consulting with those involved. All decisions of this nature will be based on what is best for the league. 12. One bowler is needed for a team to win points. Should a team not show up the team present must bowl against the missing team's full averages, including applicable handicap. There are no forfeits. 13. Any destructive or abusive behavior by any bowler shall not be tolerated. If any bowler continues to be destructive or abusive after being warned by bowling center personnel, they shall be asked to leave the league and all rights to prize money shall be forfeited. This shall include kicking or hitting of ball returns, scoring tables, throwing balls over hand, loud and/or abusive language, etc. It should be understood by every member of this league that actions such as these can cause expensive damage to bowling center equipment and perhaps personal injury. It also causes other bowlers to become distracted and annoyed. 14. Substitutes will no longer be allowed to bowl for anyone in this league. 15. The house shall run optional high single and strike pools, each of which costs $1.00. Anyone entering either or both pools must do so before they begin to bowl. The high single pool shall pay off 70% to the highest game and 30% to the second highest game for the night. Winners shall be paid the following week. The strike pool shall pay off 75% for triple strikes, bowled in the same game. If a bowler gets four consecutive strikes they shall be paid the entire pool. If two bowlers hit the pool in the same game, they shall split the winnings equally. (An example : if a bowler hits triples in the first game, they win 75% of the pool. If another bowler hits triples in the second game, they win 75% of the remaining pool, and so on.) Timber Lanes 460 Bedford St Abington, MA. 02351 (781)878-0219 www.candlepin.com
